Clock Radio

I was originally drawn to this product due to it's stylish design and appearance. It is reasonably priced, easy to set up and use and the radio has excellent reception.

Very easy to set the clock and the two alarms but not so easy to switch off without sitting up, putting on glasses and then finding the right button. Maybe I'll get better with practice. It looks good and being able to dim the display is useful - on full the whole bedroom is lit up with a yellow light! The radio quality is good but when the alarm switches the radio on there is an annoying beeping in the background so I have to switch the radio off and on again if I want to listen while drinking early morning tea. The main disadvantage is that there is no battery backup so a power cut could cause problems. (I realise I should have checked before I bought it.)

This clock radio is very stylish and the minimalist buttons keeps the face of it clean but to use I found this unit fiddly and impractical. The biggest flaw with it is no capacity for a battery backup, so every time there is a power flicker (an unfortunately frequent occurence in my area) the clock resets and the alarms don't go off. After having the clock fewer than two years the alarms no longer function at all (I'm going to blame the recent power cuts but a backup battery may have helped). I have bought another Philips (by chance) but would not buy another of this model.

I'm sorry to say but i regret buying it. It looks amazing and i'm a big fan of philips but this product is quite poor compared to others. And trust me, my home almost looks like it came out of the philips ad. The biggest problem is hearing the buzz while waking up to a radio. It is so annoying. And since it is an alarm clock it fails at it's main function. No battery backup is also a problem since much cheaper devices have it. It is impossible to use it without manual but i probably wouldn't care about anything if there wasn't for that unwanted buzz...
