I’ve wanted to make my own pasta for awhile but was unable to use a manual machine due to a wrist injury so when I discovered this electric machine I was delighted. If you’ve never made pasta before it can be tricky at first. A slight error in weighing your ingredients and you can end up with an unusable mess. Once you get the hang of it though it is easy to use and the pasta tastes delicious.ma million times better than supermarket pasta.

Excellent product, very sturdy and well made. Makes excellent gluten-free pasta (1 x cup of Doves plain flour, less 2 x Tbspn and then replace this with 2 x Tbspn of polenta); you do need additional liquid and a couple of teaspoons of oil doesn’t harm it. Don’t forget to add something like xanthan gum or Isobel’s fixer. Whole family loved it.

The product was simple to put together and doesnt take much room up at all. After a couple of goes it makes beautfiful pasta so quickly, and you can easily experiment with the shapes and quantity. Being able to put a fresh dish together takes no time at all and can easily tell the difference and wont be buying store pasta again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a big foodie and love holding dinner parties with pasta normally being a big hit. I was intrigued to use this machine as making pasta normally I know how labour intensive it can be with all the rolling, kneading etc. After using this the first time I was shocked at how quickly the ingredients mix together and then extrudes it as required. The best thing is that it allows you to experiment easily. The machine do not take alot of room in the kitchen is which great so its always on show and not hidden away.

My latest creation is Matcha Spaghetti. It is a must now for my kitchen, giving me a variety of carbs with controlled ingredients, fresh and quick. The Philips Viva collection is very elegant, light coloured that fits my kitchen's decor and compact for the limited space I have. For someone who never ever made pasta, this pasta maker is a boon. The recipe book and tools provided give a great guide to making the perfect pasta.

[Employee of philipsglobal] With a large family, mealtimes are messy enough but we enjoy cooking together and Pasta is a favourite. I didn't think the set up, process or cleaning would be worth the additional hassle for 'fresh' pasta but honestly it was! My children loved all being able to have different types of pasta and the clean up was simple. This is not going back in the box to only use on 'special' occasions. Well done Philips! Excellent product.

It's really easy to use, just put the ingredients in the top and it does the rest for you. I enjoy having control over what goes into my food and knowing I can make a fresh healthy meal for myself and my partner, and this pasta maker helps me to do that!

Pros - easy to use, makes pasta relatively quickly (once you’re used to it and have read through the instructions/familiarised yourself with the machine, fun and different. good to use with kids I imagine (as the recipe for pasta is incredibly simple and cheap). A good novelty product for those wanting to explore making such a popular dish. Easy to clean too, as most of the parts are dishwasher safe. Recipe booklet has lots of variety. Cons - really too much faff to make what is a convenience dish for some. It’s far too easy to just buy a bag of fresh pasta and cook it within 10 mins. Pasta thickness can’t be adjusted, you only have the shape attachments and if you’ve not got quite the right consistency it goes horribly wrong! Though, you can purchase additional shape attachments. It’s also most definitely a novelty product, not an essential appliance and is definitely something you can have in your house if you have the space, but in no way something you need. Price tag is relatively high, too.
